Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has admitted that he was "honoured" by Arsenal's attempt to sign him over the summer.
The Gunners came close to landing the former Real Madrid forward during the recent transfer window before he decided to join the Serie A side.
Higuain is now expected to come up against Arsenal tonight as Napoli travel to the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League.
"I was honoured by Arsenal's interest, I have great respect for [Arsene] Wenger and the idea to be in his plans filled me with pride," the Argentine told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"But I think my decision to come to Napoli was the best, I'm really happy with this choice."
Higuain has scored four goals in seven games since joining Napoli.
