Ian Wright slams Arsene Wenger's "big mistake" in playing David Ospina

Ian Wright hits out at Arsene Wenger for making a "big mistake" in starting goalkeeper David Ospina in their defeat to Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has hit out at manager Arsene Wenger for playing goalkeeper David Ospina over Petr Cech in last night's Champions League Group F defeat to Olympiacos.

Ospina dropped the ball over his line in conceding Olympiacos's second goal, and while Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez were able to get on the scoresheet, it was not enough as the Gunners succumbed to a 3-2 loss.

After back-to-back defeats, it is going to be difficult for Arsenal, who have upcoming matches against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, to reach the knockout stage.

"For somebody who's not playing often, and this is a must-win game, how can you put Ospina in goal? You've got to question the manager there," Wright said on BT Sport.

"I think that's a big mistake. Why not start with Petr Cech simply because of the experience he's got? Because we have to win this game, Arsenal have to win this game.

"Normally we're out by the quarter-final, last 16. This time we've got a massive hill to climb."

Wenger defended Ospina after the match by claiming that no goalkeeper is "mistake-free".
