Thomas Muller has insisted that he was not left surprised by Pep Guardiola's decision to start him on the bench for Bayern Munich's victory over Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
Despite not being introduced until the second half, Muller still managed to make an impact as he scored the second goal in a crucial 2-0 away win.
"I was not surprised at not starting," Muller told Sky Sports News. "Pep and I talk to each other so I knew what was coming.
"Of course I am not happy with it. But he knows and is aware that I am a total team player. A match lasts longer than 60 minutes and I am happy I could come in and help the team."
Munich host Arsenal in the second leg of the tie at the Allianz Arena on March 11.
