Arsene Wenger: "Our experience made the difference"

Arsene Wenger admits that he is 'disappointed' by the lack of chances created by his side against Anderlecht, and says that he is surprised to have won the game.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confessed that he was surprised to see his side take all three points against Anderlecht.

The Gunners were heading towards a shock defeat with just one minute of normal time remaining in Brussels, until Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski struck late on to salvage a 2-1 victory.

Despite the slender win, Wenger admits that he was not happy with the lack of openings created by his side.

"It was disappointing we didn't create more chances tonight than we did but that is because Anderlecht defended very well," the Frenchman is quoted as saying by FIFA.com.

"But the turning point was not to concede a second goal - they had a big chance that they didn't take and our experience made the difference. It is a bit unexpected to take the three [points] considering the quality of match that Anderlecht played tonight."

Borussia Dortmund lead the way in Group D following their 4-0 win away at Galatasaray.
