Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has acknowledged that his side will need to find the right balance if they are to beat Bayern Munich in their Champions League last-16 second leg on Tuesday.

The Gunners will need to score at least two goals away to the reigning European champions if they are to progress into the quarter-finals having lost the first leg 2-0 at the Emirates last month.

However, Wenger is wary of going too gung-ho due to the attacking prowess of their opponents, who have scored 72 goals in just 24 league games so far this season.

"We know we have to attack, but we know as well that we have to defend, so I have to find the right balance because Bayern are a good team going forwards," Wenger told reporters.

"We want to have a good balance between defending and attacking."

Wenger also outlined his optimism ahead of the tie, insisting that his side could upset the odds and progress to the last eight.
