Sol Campbell
Few transfers in English football history have provoked as much fury as Sol Campbell's move from Tottenham Hotspur to North London rivals Arsenal in 2001, but for club and player it proved to be a good decision.
Campbell's first season at Highbury yielded a Premier League and FA Cup double, and he went on to add a second FA Cup crown to his collection one year later.
The England international's best season came in 2003-04, though, when he made 35 league appearances as Arsenal went through the entire campaign unbeaten, with his performances alongside Kolo Toure at the heart of the defence providing the base for the club's Invincible campaign.
Campbell was also part of the Arsenal side which kept a tournament-record 10 consecutive clean sheets on their way to the 2006 Champions League final, where he scored the opening goal against Barcelona only for the Spanish giants to fight back and win 2-1.
That proved to be Campbell's final game for the club before moving to Portsmouth, but he returned for a brief spell in 2010 to take his tally of appearances for Arsenal up to 211, 146 of which came in the Premier League.
