England manager Roy Hodgson is reportedly considering axing Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from his Euro 2016 squad.

England manager Roy Hodgson is reported to be considering dropping Arsenal pair Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from the squad travelling to France for Euro 2016 this summer.

According to The Mirror, Hodgson has settled on Harry Kane as his main striker, with Tottenham Hotspur teammate Dele Alli filling the number 10 role as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation.

England captain Wayne Rooney, who has only just returned to the Manchester United fold after two months out with a knee injury, will compete with Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling for a place on the right wing, with Danny Welbeck out on the left.

The newspaper claims that the competition for places means that Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain are likely to miss out on being named as part of the 23-man squad, as will West Ham United frontman Andy Carroll.

Hodgson is said to be considering selecting just seven defenders, with places assured for Danny Rose, John Stones and the versatile Eric Dier.

England face Russia in Marseille for the first game of the tournament on June 11.
