Arsene Wenger admits that he is relieved to end Arsenal's trophy drought after beating Hull City in the FA Cup final.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is relieved to have ended Arsenal's nine-year trophy drought following the FA Cup triumph over Hull City on Saturday.

Santi Cazorla's 17th-minute free kick put the Gunners back into the contest after early goals from James Chester and Curtis Davies had stunned the pre-match favourites.

Laurent Koscielny equalised with 20 minutes remaining in the clash, before Aaron Ramsey struck an extra-time winner to complete the comeback and seal the club's first bit of silverware since 2005.

"It is a relief and happiness because we were under severe pressure to win and we didn't start well. We responded well after a demonstration of how not to start a cup final," the Frenchman told reporters.

"In the end it finished well so it is a big minute of happiness and we waited a long time for that. The happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering and the time you have to wait."

Consequently, Arsenal moved level with Manchester United as the most successful team in the competition with 11 titles, while it was a fifth time that Wenger himself has won the tournament.
