How Liverpool could line up against Arsenal

Sports Mole looks at how unbeaten league leaders Liverpool could line up for the visit of Arsenal in their final match of a memorable 2018.

Liverpool will bring a memorable 2018 to a close when they host Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday knowing that victory will guarantee at least a six-point lead at the turn of the year.

Jurgen Klopp's side have remained unbeaten for the entire first half of the campaign including victories in each of their last eight outings to take a stranglehold on the Premier League title race.

Back-to-back defeats for Manchester City mean that the champions are seven points behind Liverpool, while Tottenham Hotspur are six adrift as the Reds begin to dream of a first title since 1990.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for their final match of the year.

Out: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Joel Matip (shoulder), Joe Gomez (leg)
Doubt: James Milner (hamstring), Alberto Moreno (back)

Klopp opted against shuffling his pack for the Boxing Day win over Newcastle United, and changes could be limited again this time around with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah all expected to start once more.

Xherdan Shaqiri's place in the top four looks to be the most vulnerable should Klopp choose to switch things around, although the Swiss attacker scored again on Wednesday and will hope to have done enough to earn another start.

Liverpool are spoilt for choice in midfield to the extent that Fabinho and Naby Keita could both come into the starting lineup for this one, although Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum are also in contention to retain their places in the team too.

James Milner's hamstring injury is not thought to be anything serious, but he remains a doubt and could be more likely to feature at right-back than in midfield if Klopp feels that Trent Alexander-Arnold needs a rest after playing 90 minutes on his return from injury on Boxing Day.

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are still sidelined, though, which means that the opportunity for any further changes in defence is limited.
