Arsenal injury news and return dates for Southampton: Timber, White, Odegaard

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton.
Sports Mole

On the back of a thoroughly deserved Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal return to Premier League duty at home to newly-promoted Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners earned their first European success of the season by sinking the French champions 2-0 on Tuesday, as Kai Havertz headed in the opener before a Bukayo Saka free kick evaded everyone en route to goal.

A more straightforward win over PSG came after Mikel Arteta's men survived a monumental scare to triumph 4-2 over Leicester City last weekend, a result that left them third in the rankings behind Liverpool and Manchester City.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with the struggling Southampton, who were bested 3-1 by Bournemouth on Monday night.

Jurrien Timber

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: October 5 (vs. Southampton)

Jurrien Timber put in a brilliant shift at right-back in the first half of the PSG win before having to come off with a muscle issue, although Arteta confirmed that the change was mostly a precautionary one, so there is a good chance that he will be available for Saturday.

Ben White

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: October 5 (vs. Southampton)

As well as managing a knee issue, Ben White has now missed Arsenal's last three games with a groin problem, and Gooners are anxiously waiting to hear whether he will be fit to face the Saints.

Martin Odegaard

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Newcastle United)

Martin Odegaard has been helplessly watching on from the sidelines since the September international break due to a severe ankle injury, one which might take another month to heal.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: October 19 (vs. Bournemouth)

Takehiro Tomiyasu is still waiting for his first minutes of 2024-25 following a pre-season knee injury, but he is gradually increasing his workload in training and might be available after the next international break.

Kieran Tierney

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Kieran Tierney is still on the mend from a serious hamstring injury sustained at Euro 2024, and there have been no updates on his condition, although his inclusion in Arsenal's Champions League squad suggests that he could be back in action before the New Year.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: October 27 (vs. Liverpool)

Oleksandr Zinchenko picked up a calf injury before the win over Tottenham Hotspur on September 15, and Arteta has admitted that the Ukrainian still needs another few weeks to recover.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for this match.
