Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has provided an update on his injury situation after being forced off in the first half of England's international friendly with Brazil on Saturday night.

Walker was substituted in just the 20th minute of the 1-0 loss for the Three Lions, with the right-back seemingly suffering a muscular issue.

England boss Gareth Southgate said after the contest that the issue would be assessed "in the coming days", and he is highly unlikely to feature in Tuesday's friendly with Belgium.

"We don't know yet. He is feeling something but he is not a player who is injured very often so he's not quite certain what it is. So it is something we have to assess in the coming days," Southgate told reporters following the clash with Brazil.

Walker has since taken to social media to address the situation, with the experienced defender hopeful that he did not suffer anything "too serious" in the international friendly.

"Frustrating to come off injured in last night's game especially when captaining the side," wrote Walker on Instagram. "A truly great honour. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and I'm back ASAP."

Man City will now be sweating over the fitness of the 33-year-old ahead of Sunday's Premier League contest with fellow title challengers Arsenal.

Walker has again been a vital player for Pep Guardiola's side during the 2023-24 campaign, making 38 appearances in all competitions, including 26 outings in the Premier League.

Man City are chasing another treble this season, with the Citizens in the semi-finals of the FA Cup against Chelsea, while they will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The reigning English champions are third in the Premier League table, meanwhile, one point behind leaders Arsenal ahead of next Sunday's clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Man City are unbeaten in the league since a 1-0 reverse to Aston Villa at the start of December, and they entered the international break off the back of a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Arsenal have their own fitness worry ahead of the title showdown, with Bukayo Saka pulling out of the England squad last week due to a muscular problem of his own.

Man City have two more players in the England squad in the shape of John Stones and Phil Foden, with the duo playing the full 90 minutes of the contest with Brazil on Saturday. body check tags ::
