Arsene Wenger takes fresh swipe at 'diver' Eden Hazard

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reiterates that Eden Hazard went to ground too easily to win a penalty last week, but does "not blame" the Chelsea forward.

Arsene Wenger has stood by comments made last week when suggesting that Chelsea forward Eden Hazard dived to win a penalty against Arsenal.

The Belgium international was awarded a questionable spot kick during the 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium when the teams faced off in the Premier League.

Wenger described referee Mike Dean's decision to point to the spot as "farcical" and later claimed that Hazard went down too easily under a challenge from Hector Bellerin.

Ahead of Wednesday night's latest clash between the London rivals, with Chelsea playing host to Arsenal in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie, Wenger refused to budge on his stance.

"You see how Hazard goes down and you see how quickly he takes the penalty when he gets the penalty," he told reporters. "If he was so injured why did he take the penalty?

"I do not blame Hazard. He acted in a very professional way basically to get the penalty for his team."

Arsenal have won just one of their last five matches, most recently going down 4-2 to Nottingham Forest in a shock FA Cup third-round defeat.
