Arsenal lost for the first time in 11 Premier League games after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Swansea City this evening.

The Gunners dominated for large spells, and Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla both saw efforts saved by Lukasz Fabianski.

However, Swansea snatched the points in the final minutes when Bafetimbi Gomis headed in from Jefferson Montero's cross.

Was the result fair?

The final result was incredibly harsh on Arsenal, who looked like the only team that were going to win the match. They completely dominated the game from the start, but they found it hard to get in behind a resolute Swansea defence in a tightly contested first half. After the break, they created a number of good chances to claim the points, yet they were unable to find a way past Fabianski. In the dying minutes they were then caught out on the break, as the Swans snatched an unlikely win.

Arsenal's performance

The Gunners have been in great form recently and they were expected to continue their unbeaten run this evening. However, they came up against an opponent who made it hard for them to play their usual passing game and they failed to get a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes. Sanchez, Cazorla and Theo Walcott then saw efforts saved after the break, as they piled on the pressure. Their finishing touch deserted them, though, and they were cruelly punished when Gomis headed in, leaving them with little time to muster any sort of response.

Swansea's performance

It was always going to be a tough night for Swansea and they had to withstand a huge amount of pressure from the Gunners all evening. Their plan was to sit back and make it as hard as possible for their opponents to get in behind, while looking to hit them on the counter-attack. It was executed perfectly, as Garry Monk's side survived everything that Arsenal were able to throw at them, before scoring themselves late on. They were second best for large spells, but they deserve a lot of credit for a disciplined defensive display that has kept alive their hopes of getting into the Europa League next season.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Lukasz Fabianski: The Pole was heavily criticised during his time at Arsenal, but he returned to haunt his former club tonight. He made a string of fine saves in the second half to keep the scores level and managed to keep his 13th clean sheet in the Premier League this season.

Biggest gaffe

Although Fabianski will rightly be praised for his goalkeeping heroics, the Gunners wasted a number of great scoring chances. Sanchez and Walcott fired straight at the keeper from close range and it ended up costing their team dearly.

Referee's performance

It was a quiet game for Kevin Friend, with the football doing all of the talking. He was only forced into handing out one yellow card, which was shown to Jonjo Shelvey. The introduction of goal-line technology also helped him with Swansea's winner, as without it, Gomis's late strike may never have been spotted.
