Arsenal came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

Liverpool took the lead early on through a scrappy Luis Suarez goal before Jordan Henderson doubled his side's lead soon after the restart.

Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott both scored in the space of three minutes to restore parity, however, earning a point for their side in the process.

Was the result fair?

Yes. It was an entertaining match which could have gone either way at the end, so in a way no result would have been particularly unfair. Liverpool's goals had an element of luck about them, but they had other chances alongside them, as did Arsenal. The Gunners enjoyed the most possession, as you'd expect at the Emirates, but overall a draw was the fairest result.

Arsenal's performance

Arsene Wenger will be desperate to kick the habit of conceding first, but he can't be too upset with his side's performance having battled back from two goals down. The goals they conceded were unfortunate but they didn't dwell on that fact and for a 10-minute spell in which they scored their two goals were by far the better team.

Liverpool's performance

Brendan Rodgers will be disappointed at squandering a 2-0 lead, but a point at the Emirates is still a good result, particularly on the back of the defeat to Oldham. They had chances to win the match and looked sharp when going forward at times, but Rodgers will be keen to tighten up the defence. They are still without a win against a top-half side this season, but there are plenty of positives to take from tonight's performance.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Lukas Podolski: This is quite a tough award to give as, unusually for an entertaining match, no-one really stood out. However, Podolski was probably Arsenal's most threatening player throughout. He found space down the left flank on numerous occasions and put plenty of good crosses into the box, only to be let down by Giroud's lack of movement.

Biggest gaffe

Take your pick from any of the Arsenal defenders in the build-up to Liverpool's first goal. Bacary Sagna lost his footing and a couple of them failed to get it clear when they had the chance, allowing Suarez to fire it home via a deflection off Per Mertesacker. Catalogue of errors.

Referee performance

Kevin Friend kept a tight hold over the game throughout and had a solid performance. He had a couple of minor penalty shouts to deal with, but was right not to give any spot kicks. He also correctly pulled up Giroud for diving, which deserves recognition.

Arsenal: Next up for Arsenal is a home tie against Stoke before they travel to Sunderland to face the Black Cats a week later.

Liverpool: Things don't get any easier for Liverpool as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on champions Manchester City.
