Arsenal have received a fitness boost ahead of the new season, with Bacary Sagna due to return a month ahead of schedule.
The French international broke his leg in the final month of last season against Norwich City and was not expected to be fit until October.
According to The Mirror, Sagna has made rapid progress and could be available as early as September for a first-team return.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is now reportedly planning to abandon a summer bid for Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel and stick with Carl Jenkinson at right-back until Sagna is available.
