The Football Association fine Arsenal and Newcastle United £30,000 each.

Arsenal and Newcastle United have been found guilty of failing to control their players by the Football Association.

The charge relates to an incident during the opening weekend of the season which resulted in Gunners debutant Gervinho being handed a red card by referee Peter Walton.

Both clubs pleaded guilty to the charge handed to them and have been fined £30,000 each.

The match at St James' Park ended 0-0.
