Arsenal Supporters' Trust want full review of transfer policy

The Arsenal Supporters' Trust call upon their team to carry out a full review of their transfer policy after a lack of summer signings.

The Arsenal Supporters' Trust has called upon the Premier League club and Arsene Wenger to carry out a review of its transfer policy after what they think has been a disappointing summer.

The Gunners signed Petr Cech from Chelsea for £11m, but the goalkeeper proved to be the only new arrival at the club, meaning that they were the only side in Europe's top five leagues not to recruit an outfield player, despite being linked with the likes of Edison Cavani.

"Arsenal are in a strong financial position and it is of course disappointing that [the] transfer window has closed with just the signing of Petr Cech," the AST said in a statement posted on its Twitter account.

"Arsenal have built a strong squad and just one or two more good additions would have strengthened the chances of winning a first title in 11 years. No one wants Arsenal to buy players just for the sake of it, but we do want to see the money being invested to make the club stronger.

"This isn't an issue that affects just one transfer window and seems to indicate a wider structural issue. We urge the board to now open a full review into its arrangements for scouting and purchasing players."

Wenger has recently defended his transfer spending, saying that big name players are just not available.
