Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirms that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was dropped for the North London derby due to disciplinary reasons.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was dropped from the starting lineup for Sunday's North London derby due to disciplinary reasons.

The Gunners captain was a surprise omission from the first XI when the teamsheets were released, and reports claimed that he was dropped due to a repeated lateness.

When quizzed about the striker's spot on the bench, Arsenal boss Arteta responded: "He was going to start the game, we had a disciplinary issue, we have drawn the line and we move on.

"We have a process that we have to respect for every game and that's it. It was a decision made after evaluating everything and who Auba is and what he's done.

"We have other players who can play. Recently we have changed the team quite a lot and there are players who are willing to play and deserve a chance, so I'm comfortable with that."

However, Arsenal did not need their captain on the pitch as they claimed a deserved 2-1 win on the Emirates turf, with Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette netting after Erik Lamela's memorable rabona. body check tags ::
