Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has said that Gabriel Paulista and Calum Chambers performed well as centre-backs against Liverpool.
The pair were drafted in against Brendan Rodgers's side at the Emirates Stadium and went on to keep a clean sheet in a goalless draw.
Arsenal's first-choice centre-backs Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny could not play due to illness and a back injury respectively.
"I think they had a good game, the fact that we are going home with a clean sheet says a lot," Bellerin told Arsenal's official website.
"It is difficult to be thrown into a game like this when you haven't had a lot of game time.
"There were some times when we had trouble getting the ball out from the back, but I think we dealt very well with their front three. They had a lot of power up front and the fact we are going home with a clean sheet says a lot."
Arsenal are without a win in their first two home games of the new Premier League season.
