Wales coach Chris Coleman has dismissed suggestions that his relationship with captain Aaron Ramsey is damaged following his unsuccessful attempt to persuade Ryan Shawcross to play for the Dragons.
Coleman met with Shawcross last week to convince him to feature for Wales at senior level, as he eyes a successful 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Shawcross's tackle on Ramsey during a match between Stoke City and Arsenal broke the Welsh midfielder's leg in 2010.
"I don't have any concerns about my relationship with Aaron - I think he said himself it was my decision, which it was," said Coleman.
"Aaron is our captain and it was right that I told him what I wanted to do.
"In the end it has all been academic because Ryan has decided he still wants to throw his lot in with England."
Wales will begin their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign in September with games against Belgium and Serbia.
