France manager Didier Deschamps has said that Olivier Giroud has lost confidence after his recent struggles for club and country.
The Arsenal man has lost his starting place at the Emirates Stadium to Theo Walcott in recent games, while he was jeered by French supporters after missing several chances in his last international appearance last month.
Deschamps, however, is confident that the 29-year-old can emerge from this period and regain his best form.
"He's in a tough position," London 24 quotes Deschamps as saying.
"It's a difficult period for him. His game time is less important, his confidence has gone down and he could have played better for us the last time he featured.
"It's all part of one season. He's here because I have faith in him. He hasn't lost his qualities overnight."
France play Armenia on Thursday before facing Denmark three days later.
