Francis Coquelin has claimed that Arsenal's opening-day Premier League defeat to West Ham United could prove a blessing in disguise as they bid to make amends at Crystal Palace this afternoon.
The Gunners went down 2-0 to the Hammers at the Emirates last Sunday as their 2015-16 campaign began on a sour note following a promising pre-season campaign.
"It's been a wake-up call for everyone," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. "Considering we were going really well in pre-season, it's disappointing and it was not an Arsenal performance.
"However, it's good that it happened in the first game so that now we can pull ourselves together with 37 games left.
"We've got time to put things right and that needs to start at Palace."
Arsene Wenger's side have not won the Premier League since 2004.
