Remi Garde believes that Arsene Wenger is an "interesting choice" to become the next manager of France.
Rumours that Laurent Blanc may step down after Euro 2012 have prompted speculation on who will succeed him as coach of Les Bleus.
Garde, who played for Arsenal under Wenger, said that his former boss ticks all the boxes.
"It could very well go to him," the 45-year-old told French radio station RMC.
"He's very familiar with European football, world football and the players because he follows the [French] championship.
"He would, in the case of Laurent leaving, be an interesting choice for French football. He's one of football's greats."
Garde was appointed manager of Lyon in June last year.
