England manager Roy Hodgson believes that Jack Wilshere is more than capable of living up to expectations after his starring performance against Brazil.
The Arsenal midfielder put in a man-of-the-match display as England beat Brazil 2-1 at Wembley on Wednesday, courtesy of goals from Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.
The Three Lions boss had previously tried to take the pressure off the 21-year-old but has admitted that he did not need to.
"He was excellent. He got the man of the match and he deserved it," Hodgson told talkSPORT.
"We've talked about expectations and I'm trying to play them down, but he obviously doesn't need me to play them down.
"He's more than capable of living up to them."
The game saw Wilshere earn his sixth cap.
