Roy Keane: 'Arsenal prefer selfies over Premier League success'

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal are too preoccupied with "selfies and six-packs" to win the Premier League, according to Roy Keane.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has claimed that a number of Arsenal players are "more interested in selfies" than winning the Premier League title.

Four Gunners - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and Per Mertesacker - came under fire in January after posing for photos in the Manchester City dressing room directly after a 2-0 win.

That incident followed one from an FA Cup semi-final in 2014, when Arsenal - who went on to win the trophy - celebrated their penalty-shootout victory over Wigan Athletic by taking on-the-pitch selfies.

Arsene Wenger's side, who won the competition again in May, have not won a league title since 2004, and Keane links that barren spell with a frivolous attitude in the camp.

He told the Daily Star: "Arsenal have some really good players, some good characters who roll their sleeves up, but they also have got one or two players who are more interested in selfies and six-packs, guys who are trying to get their pictures taken every day of the week.

"Listen, every year we hear the same thing about Arsenal being contenders but there are too many Arsenal players interested in selfies - whatever they are.

"Instead of focusing on winning Premier League titles, it's all about how their bodies look, how their hair is, more so than winning football matches, which is the way things are going in the game. Look at all the players they've bought over the last couple of years – I'm not sure many would get into the Chelsea team."

The North Londoners take on 2015 champions Chelsea in the Community Shield tomorrow, before kicking off their league campaign by hosting West Ham United seven days later.
