Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has insisted that the Arsenal players will not get too carried away by their 1-0 Community Shield win over rivals Chelsea this afternoon.
The England midfielder's left-footed strike in the 24th minute was enough for the Gunners to not only retain the trophy that they had won 12 months earlier, but to secure their first win over the Blues in eight attempts.
However, despite having defeated the champions, Oxlade-Chamberlain has stressed that "the real work starts next week" when Arsenal open up their Premier League campaign against West Ham United.
"There is a really good feeling about this season but you never want to speak too soon. The real work starts next week," the match-winner told BBC Sport.
Arsenal have now lifted the Community Shield on 15 occasions.
