Former England and Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has been ordered to appear in court to face a charge of driving-driving following a motorway crash.
The 43-year-old admitted to falling asleep at the wheel before he collided with a lorry and the central reservation on the M40 in October.
Merson was understood to have been returning to his home in Sutton Coldfield after attending a charity event in London.
A date has yet to be set for Merson's court appearance.
