Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has urged fans to be patient with Gunners teammate Jack Wilshere this season.
Wilshere returned to first-team action in October after missing more than 16 months with a series of injury problems.
The England international scored his first goal of the season against Montpellier in midweek, much to the delight of Ramsey.
He told The Sun: "Jack scored a great goal against Montpellier but he still needs time.
"It will take him a while to get his match fitness back along with his full sharpness. People have to be patient with him. Of course, he's shown already what he is capable of and I am sure he will be back to his very best soon.
"He puts in a lot of hours trying to get in the best shape and hopefully he can get the rewards for his hard work. I thought he came through everything well and hopefully he can now stay injury free."
Wilshere and Ramsey are both in Arsene Wenger's squad for the trip to Villa Park this evening.
