Aaron Ramsey looking to improve on last season's goal tally

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says that he is looking to improve on his 16-goal tally from last season after opening his league account against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has targeted an improvement on his impressive goal tally from last season following his side's opening-day victory over Crystal Palace.

The 23-year-old found the net 16 times in all competitions for the Gunners last season, and he got off the mark in the Premier League for this campaign earlier today with a late winner against the Eagles.

"I was in the right place at the right time today," Ramsey told Sky Sports News. "I didn't have the best of games but I kept wanting to try and get into the box and finally it broke to me. I'm trying to improve on last season, and I'm counting the Community Shield goal so I've got two so far!

The Wales international also acknowledged that his side must improve against the division's top sides if they are to win the league this time around.

"I think you saw last season, we picked up a number of points against the teams outside the top four but our main target this year is to improve our away form against the bigger teams," he said.

"That's what let us down last season. If we did pick up a few points away from home against the top four teams last season, we would have been maybe champions. That wasn't to be, but that's our biggest thing - to improve and pick up points away from home."

Arsenal are back in league action next weekend when they travel to Everton.
