Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers challenges his side to "make a statement" against Arsenal this weekend.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has challenged his players to "make a statement" when Arsenal visit Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds can tighten their grip on fourth in the Premier League to four points with a win in the lunchtime game, and the Northern Irishman believes that his side can overcome the leaders.

Rodgers told reporters: "These types of games are the opportunities that allow you to make a statement.

"We go into it with big confidence, aligned with the support we get from the fans. The atmosphere at the last home game against Everton was incredible.

"When the big games come to town, that's when the supporters come into it. The players and the supporters together will make it a really difficult game for Arsenal at the weekend."

Rodgers also recently claimed that his side lack the quality to win the title.
