Sao Paulo director of football Adalberto Baptista has expressed his desire to keep Arsenal midfielder Denilson at the club for up to another year.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan at the Brazilian club, who are keen to keep the player at least temporarily after revealing that they wouldn't be able to afford his transfer fee.
However, Arsene Wenger is thought to want the midfielder back at the Emirates for the new season.
Vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes told Globo Esporte: "Arsenal's staff want him to return but we are waiting for Adalberto Baptista to have talks with them.
"Maybe we will manage to extend the loan for six more months or even another year.
"[Arsenal] liked his performances, they liked Denilson's development. That's why they want him to return."
Denilson is currently enjoying his second spell at Sao Paulo, having started his career with the club before joining the Gunners in 2006.
