Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he has a "strong" squad at his disposal ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Gunners have made just one major signing this summer, bringing Granit Xhaka to the club, and find themselves particularly short in defence following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.
However, further forward, Alex Iwobi has impressed with three goals in pre-season, but Wenger warned that the youngster was not guaranteed a place in the team.
"He fights for his place like everybody. We have a strong but reasonable squad," he told the club's official website.
"We have to show that we are a united squad as well throughout the whole season and that will make a big difference because everyone will get the chance to play.
"At the moment it's Alex but maybe in October it will be someone else."
Wenger recently reiterated his desire to bring in another defender before the end of the transfer window.
