Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he has sufficient funds to make a "big transfer" over the summer if he wants.
Tabloid reports today suggested that the Arsenal boss had as much as £40 million at his disposal. Speaking at a press conference today, Wenger refused to validate the figure.
"Is [that] available? Frankly I don't know,” he told reporters. “We have not completely checked out our financial position. The only thing I can say is that the club is in a healthy financial situation and, if needed, we can make a big transfer.”
Wenger ruled out any significant changes to his squad, however, adding: "No, I don't [expect a busy summer] at all. The team is 23 years-old [on average] so why should we expect to have a huge turnover at the end of the season?"
Arsenal's next game is an away trip to Bolton on Sunday. Kickoff is at 16.00.
