Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied rumours that star striker Robin van Persie is set to leave the club, and criticised the Spanish press for their coverage of the story.
Van Persie, 28, has been in imperious goalscoring form this season, leading to speculation over a possible move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.
These reports were fuelled by Marca newspaper, quoting the Dutch striker as having said that it would be an 'honour' to be linked with Real Madrid, but Van Persie was quick to deny these reports.
Wenger has echoed his striker's criticism, slamming the Spanish newspaper.
"Frankly, Marca is as creative as some English newspapers. That means you cannot believe every word that is said in Marca," said the Arsenal manager.
"They don't care, Marca, at all. I think they are even far more from real evidence than any English newspapers. They create just stories."
Van Persie has already scored 28 goals in all competitions this season.
