Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he had an "advantage" over Paris Saint-Germain during the race for Mesut Ozil's signature.
The German international opted to leave Real Madrid for the Emirates on transfer deadline day in September for a reported club-record fee of £42.5m.
Despite interest from the Ligue 1 outfit, Wenger has stated that he had the upper hand following his attempts to sign the midfielder from Werder Bremen in 2010.
"PSG wanted Ozil but I had an advantage because I'd already had that contact," The Express quotes Wenger as saying.
"He came to my house and he decided quickly. The first contact [with Ozil] happened at my place, for discretion. He decided in 24 hours."
Arsenal currently lead at the top of the Premier League table by two points.
