Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed his side's "formidable spirit" after their 2-1 win at Aston Villa.
Yossi Benayoun's late header gave the Gunners a hard-earned three points at Villa Park.
"We kept going and took our chances," Wenger told Sky Sports News. "Our formidable spirit got us through and of course we are very happy.
"You have to give credit to Villa. They had an outstanding commitment and quality and when they show that commitment and attitude they can beat anyone."
Arsenal, who are fifth in the Premier League table, next host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Boxing Day.
