Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is happy that his side were given a tough game by Malaysia XI on Tuesday.
A young Gunners side were pushed all the way in the first match of their pre-season tour of Asia.
Late goals from Thomas Eisfeld and Chuks Aneke spared Arsenal's blushes after they trailed for much of the match, eventually winning 2-1.
Wenger declared himself pleased that his team were given a genuine test.
He told the club's official website: "I think we got the quality of the game we wanted and that is very positive. We got through it without any injuries and it was a good game.
"Overall we still have some tactical and physical work to do and some physical work but don't forget that some players have only had two or three days' training."
Arsenal will now fly to Beijing for a prestige friendly against Manchester City on Friday.
