Arsene Wenger was delighted with the influence of Andrey Arshavin following Arsenal's 6-1 victory over Coventry City on Wednesday.
Despite falling out of favour this season, Arshavin scored a goal and was involved in the majority of Arsenal's attacking play at the Emirates Stradium.
Wenger said: "His best position looks to be behind the striker now because that's where his vision, his creative side of game can be very efficient.
"When he is central he is always an influence."
Arshavin was widely tipped to leave the Gunners in the summer transfer window but failed to agree a move with another club.
