Arsene Wenger: 'Arsenal have to prove squad is stronger'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims that his side are now stronger than at the start of the January transfer window, but admits that wins are needed to prove his point.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that the only way to prove that Arsenal are stronger than last month is to put together a string of victories.

The Gunners brought in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Greek youngster Konstantinos Mavropanos in the mid-season window, while offloading Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Mathieu Debuchy and Francis Coquelin.

Despite waving goodbye to star attacker Sanchez and back-up striker Giroud, long-serving boss Wenger believes that Arsenal now possess some added quality that they previously lacked.

Asked if his squad is stronger than it was before the transfer window opened, he told beIN SPORTS: "Yes, but that is all to prove now. I say yes but we have just lost a game 1-0 to Tottenham so what we have in front of us is to show that until the end of the season.

"We have to perform better in every single game and we have to show in every game until the end of the season a complete hunger, to win every single game. That is what it is about for us.

"Have the players who have come in got the quality to give us something special? Yes but it is about us now proving that on the field."

Arsenal are back in action on Thursday night with a Europa League last-16 tie against Ostersunds FK in Sweden.
