Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that he is desperate to reclaim his international place and put a succession of injury problems behind him.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted that he is fed up of missing England internationals due to persistent injury problems.

Wilshere will have further surgery this week to remove a screw in his ankle as he bids for a return to full fitness ahead of next season, after a campaign blighted by niggling problems.

The 21-year-old has revealed that he is desperate to reclaim his place as a regular feature in Roy Hodgson's squad, starting with a friendly against Scotland in August.

He told Sky Sports News: "I don't want to miss England games, that's the pinnacle in any player's career so you want to be involved in every game you can.

"We have got a friendly against Scotland as well in August and that will be a big one, I want to be involved in that. It is an important year for qualifiers next season, so hopefully I can get myself fit and get involved in that.

"We have got ourselves in a good position, and have to think positively. If we win all our home qualifiers we can get to the World Cup and it will be a successful year for England."

Wilshere will miss out on the chance to improve on his seven England caps next week as ankle surgery prevents him playing in friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
