How Arsenal could line up against Everton

Ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture between Everton and Arsenal, Sports Mole looks at how the Gunners could line up at Goodison Park.

Arsenal face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon with Mikel Arteta potentially taking the place of Freddie Ljungberg in the away dugout.

After prolonged discussions with the Gunners hierarchy, Arteta's departure from his role as Manchester City assistant manager is expected to be confirmed before the meeting with another of his former clubs.

The appointment comes with Arsenal having recorded just one win from five outings since Ljungberg was brought in as the interim successor to Unai Emery.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how the North London outfit could line up for the fixture on Merseyside.

Out: Kieran Tierney (shoulder), Rob Holding (knee), Sokratis Papastathopoulos (suspension)
Doubtful: Hector Bellerin (hamstring), Dani Ceballos (thigh), Sead Kolasinac (ankle)

Arsenal have a number of selection issues in defence ahead of this game, which includes the absence of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who serves a one-match ban for five yellow cards.

While Hector Bellerin may potentially return after a hamstring problem, Sead Kolasinac could miss out with the ankle injury sustained against Manchester City last weekend.

The absence of the Bosnian would lead to a reshuffle, with Calum Chambers potentially being moved to right-back to accommodate Ainsley Maitland-Niles filling in on the opposite side.

That could potentially leave David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi to feature in the centre, despite their less-than-convincing showing against Norwich City at the start of the month.

Given the concerns at the back, Arteta may opt to use Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi as a three-man partnership in midfield, possibly leading to Mesut Ozil dropping out of the team.

After missing out last weekend, Alexandre Lacazette will be hopeful of a recall in attack alongside Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
