Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Saturday's Community Shield clash with FA Cup winners Arsenal at Wembley.

Premier League champions Liverpool will look to add another trophy to their growing collection on Saturday when they face FA Cup winners Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Just over a month after completing an unforgettable domestic campaign, Jurgen Klopp's side are back in competitive action ahead of what is sure to be a hectic 2020-21 season in which they will look to defend their hard-won title.

Saturday's match will be one of the last chances for Liverpool to prepare for their season-opener against newly-promoted Leeds United as they face a side that finished 43 points adrift of them in the Premier League last term.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Klopp could set his side out for the contest.

Out: Jordan Henderson (knee), Joel Matip (foot), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee)
Doubtful: Trent Alexander-Arnold (unspecified), Virgil van Dijk (head), Ki-Jana Hoever (ankle)

Liverpool have a number of injury doubts before the season has even begun, and that may make Klopp think twice about fielding a full-strength side in this match with only two weeks to go until the Premier League season gets underway.

Opportunities for competitive first-team action between now and then are scarce, though, and so a number of big names - including the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane - could be included.

The full star-studded front three started Liverpool's last pre-season game against Red Bull Salzburg, but it was Rhian Brewster's introduction just past the hour mark which changed that game and his draw-saving brace could earn him a place in the XI ahead of Roberto Firmino for this one.

Captain Jordan Henderson will miss the match due to his knee injury but is due to return to training early next week and so could be fit for the new league season, while Joel Matip is also aiming to return in time for the Leeds match.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a longer-term absentee and will play no part against his former club.

There is better news regarding the fitness of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed the club's pre-season training camp in Austria with a minor problem but is expected to feature at some stage on Saturday.

Klopp may opt to ease him into proceedings, though, which could mean another start for Neco Williams along with fellow academy graduate Curtis Jones.

Virgil van Dijk is available after being taken off against Salzburg with a cut to his head, while other regular starters including Alisson Becker, Joe Gomez, Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Andrew Robertson could also be involved.

The latter is likely to face greater competition for places this season following the arrival of Kostas Tsimikas, but the new signing has work to do to usurp Robertson in the pecking order at this stage.
