How Arsenal could line up against Luton Town

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Arsenal could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Luton Town.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta ought to tinker with his starting XI for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Luton Town at the Emirates.

The Gunners dug deep to hold Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at the weekend, where only Jurrien Timber (ACL) was missing from the squad through injury, as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes all shook off their concerns.

However, Saka was far from his best throughout the game and gingerly trudged off the pitch in the second half, although Arteta confirmed that his withdrawal was for precautionary reasons.

Either way, Saka has earned a rest this week, but with Reiss Nelson being left out of the squad at the weekend for tactical reasons, Arteta had no natural right winger to cover for the Englishman in the dying embers of the City draw.

Fabio Vieira has held the fort in Saka's absence in the past, but Martinelli occupied the right flank during the closing stages of Sunday's game and may do so from the first whistle on Wednesday evening.

Another alteration in attack should occur on the left, as Gabriel Jesus cedes his spot to Leandro Trossard, but the Brazilian is also an alternative option to Kai Havertz in the central position; the German will likely reprise his role from the off, though.

The same can be said for midfield shoo-ins Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, but with Thomas Partey now back to full fitness, the Ghana international could threaten Jorginho's spot in the number six role.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko should also come into Arteta's thinking out wide, and while the former would be a straight swap for Ben White, Zinchenko could instead take the place of Gabriel Magalhaes, only just back from an Achilles issue.

Zinchenko's re-introduction could see Jakub Kiwior shift to a central position to partner William Saliba, awarded man of the match for his first-rate performance at the Etihad.

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Raya; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Kiwior, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Martinelli, Havertz, Trossard body check tags ::
