Sports Mole rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer news, as the Gunners reportedly verbally agree a deal for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal have brought in two youthful new signings already ahead of the 2022-23 season, with 19-year-old Marquinhos and 22-year-old Fabio Vieira both penning long-term contracts in North London.

More are expected through the doors at the Emirates Stadium in the coming weeks, and the Gunners are supposedly close to landing at least one of their big-name summer targets.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer news, including updates on Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha and Nuno Tavares.

Arsenal 'verbally agree Gabriel Jesus deal'

The protracted transfer saga surrounding Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus could seemingly be coming to an end soon, as Arsenal are making progress in their negotiations to sign the 25-year-old.

Jesus is the Gunners' top target to replace Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Man City are driving a hard bargain, even though his contract is up in 12 months' time.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that the two clubs have now reached a verbal agreement over a deal for the former Palmeiras starlet, who is valued at £50m by City chiefs.

Jesus can supposedly expect to become Arsenal's top earner with a £220k-per-week contract in North London, which will surpass Thomas Partey's weekly salary of £200k.

The Brazil international came up with 17 goal contributions in 28 Premier League matches for Man City last term, scoring eight times and providing nine assists.

Gunners fail with opening Raphinha bid

Arsenal's interest in Leeds United attacker Raphinha is no secret at this point, but the Gunners have a real fight on their hands to win the race for the South American.

Raphinha's 11 Premier League goals helped the Whites stave off relegation to the Championship last term, but the Brazil international is not expected to stay at Elland Road for the long-term.

With Barcelona's long-running financial problems potentially scuppering a deal, Arsenal are hoping to steal a march on the Catalan giants in the race for Raphinha.

However, The Athletic reports that Leeds swiftly rejected Arsenal's opening bid, which fell 'well short' of the Whites' valuation - believed to be in the region of £60m.

Tottenham Hotspur also continue to be credited with an interest in Raphinha, whose contract at Elland Road expires in the summer of 2024.

Atalanta BC confirm Nuno Tavares interest

Nuno Tavares's opening season at Arsenal was the true definition of a hit-and-miss campaign, and the 22-year-old could now be sent out on loan to continue his development.

Tavares made 22 Premier League appearances last season amid Kieran Tierney's injury woes, but he was criticized on various occasions for under-par defensive displays.

Atalanta were rumoured to hold an interest in bringing the Portugal Under-21 international to Serie A this summer, and director Lee Congerton has now confirmed that he has been following Tavares's development.

"I've followed Tavares since he was playing for Benfica's youth team, he's a strong player. But Tavares is under contract with Arsenal - and it's really difficult to sign players from Premier League clubs," the Evening Standard quotes Congerton as saying.

Furthermore, should Atalanta want a permanent deal for Tavares, Arsenal would supposedly demand a €40m (£34.4m) fee to part ways with the left-back.
