Arsenal have reportedly approached Bayern Munich to discuss a potential move for experienced defender Jerome Boateng during the January transfer window.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta recently admitted that Calum Chambers's knee injury, which will see the Englishman miss the rest of the season, could prompt the club to sign a new centre-back this month.
According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal are interested in the possibility of signing Boateng, who is keen to leave the Allianz Arena during the winter window having struggled for regular action this term.
The report claims that the London club have asked about a probable transfer fee, in addition to loan possibilities and the German's wages as they weigh up a bid.
Bayern would allegedly be prepared to sell the defender for a figure in the region of £13m, although the Gunners could attempt to come to a loan agreement with the German champions.
Boateng has only made nine Bundesliga appearances this season but has featured on more than 300 occasions for Der FCB in all competitions since arriving from Manchester City in 2011.
