Arsenal have confirmed that Willian's contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
The Brazil international arrived in North London from Chelsea in the summer of 2020 but only managed one goal in 37 appearances during an ill-fated 2020-21 season.
Willian penned a three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium upon his arrival but has been widely expected to move on this summer, and the Gunners have now confirmed his departure.
A statement on arsenal.com read: "We have reached a mutual agreement with Willian to terminate his contract effective from today.
"He had two more years to run on his contract but following positive and constructive recent discussions with him and his team, he will be leaving for a new opportunity with Corinthians in Brazil, where he began his career. Everyone at Arsenal wishes Willian and his family well for the future."
Willian's only goal for Arsenal came from a free kick in May's 3-1 Premier League victory over West Bromwich Albion, and he also chalked up seven assists during his only season with the club.
The 33-year-old returns to boyhood club Corinthians after making 17 appearances for them between 2006 and 2007, and he amassed a total of 38 goals and 44 assists in 259 Premier League games for Arsenal and Chelsea. body check tags ::
