Arsenal are reportedly hopeful that their chances of landing Daniele Rugani will be boosted by offering to sign Sami Khedira as part of the same deal.

The duo are teammates at Juventus and Arsenal think that Rugani could be tempted to move to the Emirates Stadium if they can also convince Khedira into making the switch.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport report that Arsenal are lining up a two-year loan offer for Rugani as an alternative to the double transfer, for which Khedira would have to take a pay cut.

Unai Emery seems to be looking for defensive reinforcements with Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi facing uncertain futures with the club.

Arsenal are long-term admirers of Rugani and have come under widespread criticism for their lack of defensive strength in recent seasons.
