Arsenal have reportedly failed with an attempt to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
Due to uncertainty surrounding the future of Laurent Koscielny, Unai Emery is eager to add fresh faces to the centre of his defence before the end of the summer window.
A number of names have been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium - including Juventus player Daniele Rugani - as the Gunners boss attempts to complement the signings made further up the pitch.
According to Bild, the North London outfit are also keen on Upamecano, who has emerged as one of the most highly-regarded prospects in European football.
However, RB Leipzig are said to want more than the £55m which Arsenal have allegedly offered for the 20-year-old's signature.
The Frenchman has already made 75 appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions since joining them in January 2017.
