Arsenal have reportedly opened contract talks with Kieran Tierney following his impressive 2020-21 campaign.
The left-back was a shining light in an otherwise mediocre season for Arsenal, and he ended the campaign with two goals and five assists from 37 appearances in all competitions.
Mikel Arteta's side failed in their bid to secure European football, though, which has led to the futures of some of their prized assets being called into question.
However, football.london reports that Tierney is enjoying life in North London, and the club are keen to reward his performances with a new-and-improved long-term contract.
The report adds that Arsenal are still keen to sign a new left-back as backup to Tierney, though, with Hibernian starlet Josh Doig thought to be on the Gunners' radar.
Tierney's existing deal at Arsenal is not due to expire until 2024, and the former Celtic man has amassed three goals and nine assists from 62 appearances for the club since arriving in 2019.
The 24-year-old was also selected for Scotland's Euro 2020 squad and is expected to start in their opener with the Czech Republic on Monday afternoon. body check tags ::
