Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly all still keeping a close eye on Marco Asensio's situation at Real Madrid.

The Spain international was widely expected to leave Carlo Ancelotti's side in the summer transfer window after falling behind Federico Valverde and Rodrygo in the pecking order.

Asensio was thought to have been on the radar of numerous clubs in Italy and England, but he ultimately remained on the books at the Bernabeu.

However, the 26-year-old is now in the final year of his contract with Real Madrid, and his prospects of rising back up the ranks under Ancelotti are seemingly slim.

Asensio has played just 47 minutes of football in all competitions this season - making two substitute appearances in La Liga and another two in the Champions League, scoring once against RB Leipzig.

According to Calciomercato, Asensio will not be renewing his contract at Real Madrid and will therefore be free to negotiate with foreign clubs in the January transfer window.

The report claims that Asensio's agent Jorge Mendes has been left 'delighted' by the news, and a plethora of clubs are ready to battle it out for his signature.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs are all said to be keeping tabs on the Spaniard, but Asensio wants more time to decide on his next career move, and the sporting project is more important to him than a lucrative salary.

Nevertheless, Mendes is supposedly pushing for his client to earn €7m (£6.2m) per year at his next club, and the Premier League trio are facing stiff competition from elsewhere.

Juventus and AC Milan are both understood to be attentive to the situation, and a separate report has claimed that Asensio has already signed a preliminary contract with Barcelona.

The ex-Mallorca youngster refused to rule out a future move to Barcelona when asked by COPE earlier this month, saying: "I haven't thought about it. I can't give you an answer right now. Many friends have told me about the news that Barca want to sign me.

"I've received about 200 messages. There are a lot of rumours and a lot of things we don't know. In 2023 I will be able to sign with any club because my contract ends."

Asensio left Mallorca in 2015 to join Real Madrid in a £3.5m deal, and the attacker has registered 50 goals and 24 assists in 239 outings for Los Blancos over the past seven years.

Asensio has helped Real Madrid win a total of 15 major honours in that time, including three Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and three Supercopa de Espana crowns.

However, the Spaniard's frustrations reached boiling point earlier this season, as he was pictured taking his anger out in the dugout after failing to earn any minutes against his old club Mallorca on September 11. body check tags ::
